Ubuntu : A collection of Personal Package Archives

Apt / Aptitude is one of the features of Ubuntu ( and of course Debian ) that I like the most. The package availability is the largest that I have seen and the install is also the easiest. Well, to make things easier for people launchpad.com provides PPA’s – the best repositories to get the most up to date .deb packages for your Ubuntu setup. I have listed a few of these below for Ubuntu 8.04 with a very short description. Just add them in the Third Party Tab in Synaptic and all the packages are ready to install.

  • Avant Window Navigator – A dock for Linux

  • Transmission – The default torrent client in Ubuntu
